Commercial and service premises
Modern services & Aalto design heritage.
Otaniemi shopping centre at Otakaari 13–15 has formed the core of campus services since the days of Helsinki University of Technology. This is where a student of any subject can find an ATM, grocery store, pharmacy, kiosk and fast food if necessary.
We develop the services of the growing campus in order to make them better meet the needs of existing and future students as well as other users of the area. We provide innovative spatial solutions in existing buildings, and we are open to test new ideas. Nearby daily services, meeting points, and healthcare and wellbeing services are some of our development objectives.
This building was designed by Alvar Aalto and completed in 1961. It features asymmetrical copper roofing, the wavy profile of which emphasizes the wavy form of the cornice of the outer corridor.
