Otaniemi’s service offering is revolutionized – shopping center A Bloc opened to the Aalto University campus

30
August

The new shopping center A Bloc opened on Thursday August 30th in connection with the Aalto University metro station. New restaurants, cafes, shops and other services transform Otaniemi’s service offering.

A Bloc will certainly influence the whole dynamics of the Otaniemi area, and will bring in long-sought-after options for lunch-time, evening and even for the weekend activities. We want A Bloc to have a truly Aalto community style and feel about it, so that it will become a place where everyone chooses to spend their time and meet up with others”, says Eetu Ristaniemi, Director of Real Estate Investments at Aalto University Campus & Real Estate.

A Bloc is situated right in the center of the campus and its location makes it possible for the university and the shopping center’s service providers to work more closely together. Some of the store concepts have been developed in co-operation with Aalto’s students. For example, the restaurant Who the xxxx is Alice has been thinking about what the Otaniemi area needs together with students, and K-Market emphasizes local producers in its product range.

The shopping center increases especially the number of restaurants in Otaniemi. There are now multiple options for lunch and for dinner: sushi from Konnichiwa, falafels from Fafa’s, Neapolitan pizza from Who the xxxx is Alice, poke bowls from Eat Poke HKI, as well as a vast array of options at the large campus restaurant by Fazer Food & Co. In addition to restaurant services, Espresso House, Brooklyn Café and Jungle Juice Bar complement the variety of food and drink selection.

The long wait is over as A Bloc also houses an Alko store, which has already been warmly received by the student community. Student life is also facilitated by Clas Ohlson’s new store concept Lab Store, where the range is updated and designed to suit students’ needs.

The shopping center also includes grocery stores Alepa and K-Market, R-kioski and a pharmacy. A large Esport Aalto fitness center fills up almost the entire second floor with its Les Mills THE TRIP -indoor cycling hall and HotStudio.
